5'10 Vitamin Sea twin fin with channels

This amazing board was shaped by Chris Jones in Newquay for Vitamin Sea surfboards, in 1982 or 83. The condition is as good as you'll find for a board of this age - when board weight was coming down so the surface of the boards wasn't as robust as it had been in the 70s. In the late 80s the boards lost still more weight when the gloss coat started to be sanded down leaving the matt finish of most modern shortboards. The other very unique thing about this board are the torpedo shaped channels . A lot of boards in the early 80s had straight channels but nothing like these. I guess the idea was to speed up the flow of water under the board and create some lift.
The board has a 2 1/2 fn set up, with big multi fins and a small back fin to give a more bite.
Judging by the condition this board has only been surfed a handful of times, and CJ was stoked to see it again at the surf meet last summer.

  1. where has that board ended up now? That thing looks so good! If you (or anyone you know) have any real nice colourful clean late 70's or early-mid 80's boards for sale, let me know, I'm super keen to add to my collection! My email is matthewmaleham@hotmail.com
