Phil Jay singlefin early 70s

Here's a beauty diamond tail single fin shaped by Phil 'Jay' Jenkins in around 1973. It would have been made at his factory at Barnstaple ,North Devon and could have been a custom order with all the work that's been put in. Full resin tint deck and rails, spray on bottom, large logo with resin pinlining around the logo. Loads of work has gone in to make it a special board ; as Phil said in his ad of 1973 - 'you probably won't even see many because they're a small production and high quality board on a personal level '.
They were sold from his factory showroom in Barnstaple, or his famous Jay surf shop in Wandsworth ,London.

NOW SOLD This board is available for sale - with original leash ! Offers considered, will be bringing it along to the surf meet. Send offers to traceyboyne@aol.com . Its in really nice condition, no delam, has had a polish on the bottom to get rid of some scratches, looks great now. Dimensions are 6'5 x 21 x 3.

  1. Hello Alasdair,
Circa 1974 a friend and I manned the Wandsworth shop one Sunday as the manager coped with an emergency at home. Later he told us some stories of his customers, one guy was so impressed by paintjob on his surfboard that he had his Merc. resprayed to match!
