Sean has sent this Madrid from his collection -
An extremely rare Madrid Mike Smith Concave [or 'Dots' as it was / is known] from 1982 in NOS condition . Purple colour . Original 'Pizza' griptape . Graphics by Bernie Tostenson . One of only a couple known on the planet and in the top 5 deck collectables . From the period when skateboarding took a major downturn in popularity with skate company deck sales falling from 1000's per week / month to virtually zero . This had to be ordered from the USA through Alpine Sports in London and took months to arrive [what a different world we live in now !] Due to the very high price at the time the deck was purchased and the trucks / wheels were being saved for . Anyway as you can see the set-up was never completed apart from the rails / tail saver [removed] Mike Smith epitomized the skate spirit at the time with his off the wall attitude and gnarly deep end acid drops . Thankfully this company and a a few others kept making product at a time when the hardcore group of skaters left around the planet were making huge advances in what was possible on a piece of 7 ply maple . Thank you Madrid !
