Irish and open surfing championships, Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal 1969 attracted surfers from England including Rod Sumpter and Tony Cope, who shared a room at the Sands house hotel below (with the competitors cars parked outside ).

The Taunton Boys : A gang of surf-mad friends who used to camp every WE at Lobb Fields site ( Saunton ).
The photo is dated Aug 1967. L - R : Mike Eastick ( it`s his photo ), Mervyn BEARD ( Later to form Chapter Surfboards ), John Baxter & son, Peter Evans. ( Merv was working for Woolaway Homes with his mate Flipper Stacy at the time.) The car looks like a Triumph Herald estate.

Eddie Rehorne`s board shorts : bought he says late 60`s. Hang Ten label, but made under license in Newquay.
Mike Eastick`s badge : which he got for competing in the 1966 SLSA Surfing Championships in Newquay. The newly formed BSA also held their own championships, the war between the two to control surfing went on for a few years before BSA won.......... after which all claims to the GB or European surfing champs by SLSA were dropped. Thanks to Tony Cope for supplying photos.
