Mooney model Bilbo
Jason has sent some pics of another of his nice Bilbos-
'after seeing that Mooney shaped board on your site I thought I'd send you a pic of my 'Mooney Model' Bilbo, It's got an almost diamond tail, stringerless, and has a great raspberry-ripple finish. It's from that late 1960's 'transitional' period that spawned some great weird and wonderful shaped boards.'
Pete Mooney McAllum started building boards in Raglan 1958 in his native New Zealand. He arrived in the UK in '67 and set up Nomad surfboards and Stuart surfboards with Neil Reading - rare boards now. He also did some work for Atlantic in St Ives, but when surfing hit boom times in England in '69 he moved to Bilbo and was shaping upto 50 boards a week ! He returned to NZ for a few years before returning to Cornwall and starting Ocean Magic.
Thanks for sharing the board Jay I love those raspberry ripples.
