Chateau 41's

A rare pair of Welsh Chateau 41's reunited . Made in 1971 and 1972 by Alan Williams in Canton, Cardiff .I'm not sure how many were made but only a small handfull - mabye only 4 or 5 still exist. The early 70s twin fin was a short lived design, one that gave a loose ride but was hard to master when riders had been surfing singlefins all the time. These two boards show an evolution happening. The earlier black railed board made for Tim Jones is very thick at the tail, with small fins and hard down rails. The 2nd one is much more refined, less volume, more rounded rails, although still down , and larger and less raked fins, and much lighter. Thats the one you would want to surf. The black railed one is almost from another planet , and its oddity is part of its appeal.
Chateau 41's were sold through Seaweed surf shop in Cardiff, although these two were both custom orders.
