Tris twin fin

Really nice Tris twin fin from around 1980. Even though its an 80s board it still has a classic 70s spray with lots of pinlining, and the full nose and plan shape , unlike the narrow nose designs of the early 80s. Single flyer into wide swallow tail with G&S star fins. A very surfable classic by one of our favourite old surf companies. Its got less volume than most boards of this era, and is pretty much wafer thin at the tail - so quite a progressive and manouverable board for the time. It could have been shaped by Chops, who always put the logo on its side, but usually had a personal decal on the board too; so mabye Tris shaped it ? 6ft1 x 20 1/2 x 2 1/2.

Beautiful combination of spraywork and pinlining, signs of quality.

I got the board from Alec, who had it for years and is emigrating to Australia and couldnt take it with him. When I got it it had this peculiar deck grip on, which I removed to get back to the original board.

 1977 artwork by Neil Wernham
Heres one of the ultimate collectable Tris singlefins, with artwork by New Zealander Neil Wernham, who worked at the factory for a few years in the mid 70s. This one features the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland, puffing away at a bit of homegrown ? The caterpillar went into the later version of the Tris logo by Keith Flack. Neil Wernham now lives in Raglan ,New Zealand and has a lot of good memories of his time in Cornwall. He is still a big part of the surf scene there and his son is semi pro.
