Many of the greats of British surfing got together yesterday to celebrate 30 years of World tour events at Fistral, and the photos of Alex Williams - hosted by Carve and the Boardmasters. Very good to see and meet many people I have written about on the blog all in one place, and Alex's photos and free champagne all helped make it a great gathering .
The 30th anniversary cake - very chocolatey ! With Roger Mansfield, Alex Williams, Bob Westlake, Steve Daniel, Nigel Semmens and Chops.

Speeches with Alex and Steve England of Carve
Loved this photo of Cheyne and Pottz about to duel - pure focus on their faces.
World Tour atFistral in the early 80s, photo by Alex. A lot less high tech than today, and look how few houses there are on the horizon. Its covered in major developments today.
3rd from left - Nigel, Chris Power, Steve Daniel, Chops, Charles Williams (Atlantic surfboards )
Roger Mansfield with his new 2nd edition of the Surfing Tribe, which was different enough from the 1st edition to make me buy another copy - with around 100 new photos and three new stories.
Also attending were Johnny Manetta (Tris surfboards), Graeme Bunt, Ben Skinner, Jed Stone, John Copley and quite a few I probably didn't recognise.
